The Velo Club Motel ride was lovely this weekend, but the most exciting thing that happened was me being hit by a car (I'm fine by the way, not a scratch on me, but the car has a massive dent in the bonnet that will need a bit of work). Therefore I thought I would take the opportunity to mention Bradley Wiggins, after his final race for Team Sky.
We had the pleasure of welcoming Bradley into the studio, when John Wright shot the cover of his autobiography. He came, complete with his yellow Pinarello and we have a signed yellow jersey to prove it.
Along with the Tour of Yorkshire, the next big target for Wiggins is an attempt on the hour record. I have set a tough target for him of 40km, but he is likely to be aiming a little higher. The current record, held by Rohan Dennis is 52.491km. Next time you are in a car going at 33mph, stick your head out the window and imagine cycling that fast, non stop for an hour. It's pretty insane. Anyway, around 6500 tickets for the event at the Olympic Velodrome sold out in 7 mins.
Our new race kit is due do arrive in a few weeks and I will be putting it through it's paces, but just a reminder that the 2015 club kit is available to buy. Fern Britton was so taken by the kit, that she bought a top to wear during her John O'Groats to Land's End charity ride. She sets off on the 1st of May.
